DESCRIPTION

This plate is part ofa seriesthat was produced from 1906 to 1930. Fullytitled “The Jackdaw of Rheims And off that terrible curse he took.” The Jackdaw of Rheims is an ancient medievallegend, popularized in a rhymed version by R.H. Barham. It tells of a jackdaw(a glossy European blackbird) who stole the Cardinal\'s precious ring during apompous party. The Cardinal uttered a terrific curse against the unknown thiefand consequently the jackdaw fell seriously ill. After the ring was found intothe jackdaw\'s nest, the Cardinal withdrew the curse and the jackdaw recovered.So the jackdaw became very devoted and when it was dead, it was made a Saint.CONDITIONAbsolutelymint.
