We recently had this seller come into our Store, for us to sell items she has for sale, this Royal Sewing Machine with Wood Cabinet, Made in Occupied Japan is one of those items. She said her Grand Father had bought it for her Grand Mother and years later it was given to her. Since she doesn’t sew she has no need for it. It seems to look okay, and is very heavy since it is metal. It does have a few cosmetic blemishes due to it\'s age but does not affect the workmanship please look at the photo images. I am not an expert so please use your own expertise and judgment on this Sewing Machine, before you buy. Everything we sell is sold as-is since our items are sold largely on behalf of others sellers. I have done a online search and have found that Shortly after W.W.II, Japan, with money from the United States, manufactured a large number of sewing machines. The most common of these were clones sewing machines to look a lot like a Singer Sewing Machines. At times they were given American sounding names to appeal to the overseas market. With over 5000 different \"brands\" and by 15 or more companies. Many of the large retailers would purchase machines and have their company name on them. The post war machines are generally well made, however the Japanese Sewing Machines have not caught on with collectors as of Yet, even the ones made in Occupied Japan. But given time that could change.This might be a good item for a collector just starting his collection. To collect Sewing Machines made in Occupied Japan before the price goes up.

This sewing machine may work, or it may not work, I really don\'t know. However I did plug it in and the machine seem to work, but the light didn\'t. I assume it will need some TLC and a lub/oil job, and maybe even more I really don\'t know.
