VINTAGE RUSSIANSILVER ENAMEL CUP & SAUCER

An elegant cup & saucer marked as 916 Silver, with Maker\'s mark that I can\'t quite make out. The markings on both the base of the cup and the saucer show the starwith 916. The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/2 inches and the cup is 2 3/4inches, with a height of 2 inches. My scale may not be exact but I believe that this weighs approx. 184 grams. The design on the cup and plate is black and white with red. The technique of cloisonné is an ancient one, which consists of adding and soldering layers of enamels or inlays of different colors. The enamel work on this setis excellent and well as the gilt gold finish.These are in very good condition with no damage to the enamel.
