Large sterling silver handled meat carving set. Set includes 3 pieces - large knife, meat fork for serving, knife sharpener. The pieces are all marked on the handle with hallmarks of lion, anchor and G then STERLING. Those hallmarks are for Gorham and I believe these pieces to be Gorham but buyer be the expert and make your own assessments about the maker. The handles are NOT solid sterling silver - they have cement or some type of hard material in them with sterling over the cement part of the handle. So basically all the handles have sterling sheeting over the cement or hard material used to form the handles of the different pieces. This is common practice in knifes and such. The knife blade, sharpening rod and fork are NOT sterlIing. The knife and sharpening piece are approximately a little bit less than 14 1/2 inches long. The meat fork is approximately a little bit less than 11 1/2 inches long. The handles don\'t have any major dents or dings that I see. The hallmarks and word sterling are worn in various areas. The handles have dark tarnish spots, spots that look like water marks and lots of light scratches. The fork, knife and sharpening rod all have LOTS of dark spots / areas on them and they have some white residue. All pieces need a cleaning / polishing. White residue is in the crevices as well as other areas. The knife blade has a ding /tiny chip spot / pitting on it. The sharpening rod has roughness and pitting. These pieces are pre-owned. They are all in as found condition from estate. They have imperfections including but not limited to the previously mentioned imperfections, dust / dirt , smudges , fingerprints, tarnish, discoloration, roughness, pitting, white residue, scratches. Overall, I think these are useable pieces that need a through cleaning and polishing. Price reflects pieces being pre-owned and selling in as is condition with any and all imperfections that the items have. Please view / use pictures for description and condition.
