This is a Rare Set of 4 Vintage 1980 Russian Physiographic Diagram Maps with details on the depths of the Floor of the Atlantic Ocean. Yes, before Satellites, cartographers actually had to tediously hand plot features from reams of supporting data (I Know)!! The Maps include; South America to Antarctica w/ South Atlantic Ocean & Eastern Pacific Ocean features (35 ½” x 46 ½”); Southwest Africa to Antarctica w/ only Atlantic features (21 ½” x 46 ½”); Western Scandinavia to Mediterranean w/ Eastern Atlantic features (21 ½” x 46 ½”); & North Atlantic from top of Greenland to just south of Florida, and east to Iceland & the mouth of the Mediterranean (35 ½” x 46 ½”). Since the titles & land Names are in Russian, I can’t tell you much about the publishing, except for the 1980 date that appears on all 4 maps. One map is autographed on the lower edge by Russian Cartographer “Natasha Marova”. I got these in a Russian / American cultural exchange back when I was an Oceanographic Cartographer, many years ago. The maps are in great condition, although you may find some minor wear here & there where they are folded, from very limited viewing!
