Vintage Signed Los BallesterosMexican Sterling Silver Necklace and Earrings Set
Signed: Talleres de Los Ballesteros Hecho en Mexico925 The necklace is marked twice, on the back oftwo separate links of the necklace. The earrings are marked as pictured on the back of one of the earrings.
Date: There is no eagle assay mark, so this setpredates 1948.
Total Weight of Necklace: 45.5grams Total of Earrings: 8.6 grams
Size: The earrings are approximately 1 1/8\"h x 7/16\"w. The necklace has 14 links connected with o rings at the top corners, with a total length of 15.5\". The links of the earrings and the links of the necklace are the same size and design, however, the links of the necklace have been rounded just slightly to lay better on the neck and collarbones.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. Please note the last three pictures show the back of the earrings. These early earrings may have originallyhad screw back mechanisms, and were changed into clip-ons. As this set was hand made, there are tiny individual differences within the links.
This early Los Ballesteros set design is high relief with a darklyoxidized background....a very intensive skill set of silversmithing is evident.The bottom layer of cut silver links were oxidized, the top layer of sterling links were cut, then applied to the top of the oxidized layer for the high relief. Hand made, hand crafted, hand love work. Each link is very slightly different,and the necklace links are slightly arched to lay nicely on the neck. The two figures in each link sit facing each other, having a divine tet-a-tet.
