Hello antique lovers. This weekend I am listing a beautiful (heavy), Salvador deLa Serna Mexican Sterling Silver Tea set, Gorham Sterling flatware set, the beginnings of a HUGE estate of the highestquality costume jewelry, and aHUGE collection of Big Little books from a collector’s estate, both of which I will be listing several of each week for the next couple of months, so please view mylistings as I only pick the very best pieces for my customers.THIS LISTING IS FOR...this sparkling, vintage, signed SALVADOR DE LA SERNA, Mid Century Modern (1940s), Sterling Silver Coffee/Tea Set. This is one of the most beautiful and heaviest tea sets that I have ever had. It is in a beautiful Mid-Century Modern gourd/pumpkin shape. Set weighs 3158 grams with all of the pieces being of substantial height and weight. Coffee pot weighs 1204 grams and measures 11.5 inches tall . Tea pot weighs 1087 grams and measures 8.5 inches tall. Creamer is tall measuring 6 inches and weighing 401 grams and Sugar bowl with lid weighs 466 grams. There is a slight dent on the foot of the creamer and I show a close-up of that for you. I don\'t see it at all unless I turn the piece over. Other than that the set is very clean inside and out. There are a few insignificant little pin dot dents here or there but it is very minimal. Set does not have an eagle mark from the Mexican Government. This eagle mark was required on Sterling Silver from 1947 to 1979 so this piece dates prior to 1947. In the next paragraph I will include some information about this mark for you. Pieces of this set are marked \"S. De La Serna\" and \"925\" for Sterling Silver content and \"Mexico\". Enjoy.Now a little bit of information about the Mexican“eagle”mark for you: In the book “Collectible Silver Jewelry” by Fred Rezazadehhe writes “Between 1947 and 1979 the Mexican government required an eagle stampto be used as assay mark on all sterling or higher grade silver jewelry. Thenumber in the center identifies the silversmith. Many times, severalsilversmiths used the same numbers however. In 1979 a new registry system whichuses 2 letters was adopted by the Mexican government. The first letterrepresents the city. “T” is for TAXCO.Second letter represents the first initial of the last name of the silversmithand the number represents the order in which the name was entered on a list ofregistered silversmiths.
