Vintage Silver PHAROAHS MUMMY EGYPTIAN SARCOPHAGUS Charm / Small Pendant SIGNED:
$79.99

Friends, this listing is for a VINTAGE Silver EGYPTIAN PHAROAH\'S MUMMY IN A SARCOPHAGUS Charm. Very unusual depiction of a Pharoah\'s Mummy holding the the Crook and Flail (royal symbols of power). The only Mummy ever found holding them was King Tut, so this is probably a souvenir depiction of him. And, it\'s signed with a triple square Maker\'s Stamp that looks Egyptian. On the back, you can see the stamp indentation, but the marks are on the front and are difficult to read because of the patina. Tests positive as genuine silver, however the actual silver content may not be .925 Sterling as other silver standards have been used throughout history (800, 850, 950, 999). The Charm / Small Pendant is in GOOD condition with NORMAL signs of wear and a GOOD DARK patina for its age. It measures 1 and 1/8 inches tall, a 1/2 inch wide and a 1/4 inch thick. Plus, it weighs 3.4 grams.Pleasenote that I normally ship within 3 Business days of receiving payment.S&H is via USPS Priority Mail Envelope which includes $50 worth of insurance.

WIKIPEDIA: CROOK AND FLAIL

The crook (heka) and flail (nekhakha) were originally the attributes of the Ancient Egyptian god Osiris that became insignia of pharaonic authority. The shepherd\'s crook stood for kingship and the flail for the fertility of the land.

The earliest known example of a royal crook is from the Gerzeh culture and comes from tomb U547 in Abydos. By late Predynastictimes the shepherd\'s crook was already an established symbol of rule. Flail initially remained separate, being depicted alone on some earliestrepresentations of royal ceremonial. Approximately by the time of the Second Dynasty the crook and flail became paired.

The only extant pharaonic examples of both the crook and flail come from the tomb of Tutankhamun. Their staffs are made of heavy bronze covered with alternating stripes of blue glass, obsidian, and gold, while the flail\'s beads are made of gilded wood.
Why the comparison with a MercuryDime??

Firstof all, the Mercury Dime (or Winged Liberty Head dime) was produced by the United States government from 1916 to 1945. The coin weighs 2.5 grams and is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. For example, today\'s current Roosevelt dime is composed of 0% silver.

So, when I believe a Silver medal or charmhas some age to it, I\'ll useaMercury Dime from 1943 (almost 70 years old and 90% real silver) in a picture together with it. This can be an invaluable aid in judging age. In fact, the comparison shows you not only the size, but what the standard patina and wear really look like on a 70 year old coin. You can then judge for yourself whether the charm/medal has more or less wear orpatina than the coin and is, therefore, more or less old than the coin. And, if the item isn\'t silver, then the dime is just for size comparison.
Thanks for looking!
