~Welcome to my sale for this very stylish solid silver Deco style teaspoon~
This is a very nicely made little spoon which I\'d call a teaspoon or coffee spoon.
The bowl is of elongated, olive shaped form and is attached to the stem by means of a short rat tail - the stem has a square cross section but has a distinctive twist to the middle.
The terminal has a geometric square or diamond shaped end which is so reminiscent of the art deco era of the mid 1920\'s through to the 1930\'s.
The reverse side of the stem is simply marked \'STG SIL\' which indicates it is of sterling grade silver - the makers mark is \'COY\' - despite extensive searching I\'ve been unable to find any information about this maker - the style of silver mark suggests Australian manufacture as I\'ve seen this on known Australian pieces in the past - as for the styling, it\'s distinctly Art Deco which would suggest a manufacturing date of around the 1930\'s - naturally more available information about the maker may be enable me to definitively date the item.
The spoon could potentially be a scarce one off design - at the time of listing I have another similar spoon listed by the same manufacturer - I certainly cannot find another one like it aside from the similar one I have - please take a look at the separate listing and if a buyer is interested in both a combined shipping price can be arranged.
The spoon measures 11.3cm in length and is 2.1cm across the width of the bowl - the total unpacked weight is 9.8g.
The spoon is in all round excellent condition with no issues to report - the silver has a good colour and patina.
