Gemstone Identification
Naturalor Synthetic
Anygemstonelistedexcept for diamonds should be considered synthetic orman made unless listed as natural.

For semiprecious gemstone jewelry (Not diamonds). A high end thermal refracting gemstone testeris used tohelp determine what a gemstone might be. It doesn\'tguarantee 100% accuracy becausesome stones refract heat similar, but it narrows down the possibilities. I also try taking accurate picturesto helpbuyersdetermine what they believe a stone to be.

The most commonly used semiprecious gemstones foundin jewelry include: Amber, Garnet, Amethyst, Tanzanite, Topaz, Tourmaline, Spinel, Emerald, Moonstone, Sapphire,Iolite, Citrine, Aquamarine, Marcasite,Quartz and Ruby.

Stones like Turquoise, Coral, Opal, Onyx, Lapis, Sodalite,Larimar, Jasper,Agate and Malachite are commonly used in
Native American, Southwestern and Mexican jewelry.

A tester easily showsdifferences between a gemstone and colored glass but, it can not determine differences between synthetic and natural stones.

About Second Chance Silver

We are buyersof Precious Metals, Diamonds and Coins in Pennsylvania. We acquireour items through estate sales, sales, store buyouts, private collections, other buyers and our stores. Although we primarily buy scrap, on occasion we purchase some very nice items that I feel deserve a \"Second Chance\". Over the years I have purchased 1000`s of uniquepieces and often wondered how people could just give up years of memories. That\'s when I decided to keep those memories going and started Second Chance Silver. I mainly sell sterling silver jewelry, but have othergreat items for sale too.I think its cool when a piecestarts out in one place andit gets a \"Second Chance\" to make memories with someone new. If theycould share the life they lived, the places they have been, just all the stories behind them. I\'m sure they would be great. Besides the jewelry from yesterday is much nicer then the new jewelry today. And silver just looks better against the skin.

What is \"SterlingSilver\"?
Sterling Silver is the most popular silver alloy in the world for jewelry. Sterlingsilver (.925 silver) is an alloy consisting of 92.5% fine silver and 7.5% other metals (usually copper). Jewelry makers use sterling silver because of its strength and durability, fine silver alone is soft andtoo easily damaged to be used for jewelry. In the United States sterling silver must be at least 92.5% fine silver to be marketed as sterling silver.

Making Best Offers
I personally believe my listings are priced very fairat the pricesposted.I still choseto use the best offer option on most of my salesto allow \"reasonable\" offers to be considered. Even then I may decline offers. I also use an Auto-declinesetting tofilter out thoughtless offers so please don\'t take it personally. I\'mnot even made aware of offers that get auto-declined.The setting is based on different percentages.Whether your buying 1 item or 20 items the percentage stays the same.
All costs need to be taken into consideration whenbuyers feel an offer needs tobe made.

These costs include:
Price of the actual item
Labor and materials involvedin cleaning, sizing, identifying, researching, labeling, photographing, listing, and inventorying
The fees paid to (9%+ listing fee)and Paypal2.9% + transaction fee
Monthly store subscription
Listing software subscription
Shipping expenses (postage, packaging, labels, ink)
Plus miscellaneous expenses
Thank you for understanding
