Here\'s a beautiful vintageHebrew CHAI sign charm.
What a great charm to celebrate your heritage or
to commemorate a visit to Israel.
This is a large sized charm.
The attached spring ring is broken.
The charm has developed a soft patina, but I\'ll
leave the cleaning up to the new owner
The vintage condition is GOOD.
The metal is STERLING SILVER.
The mark/stamp on the charm reads: \"STERLING\", and a maker\'s mark.
It\'s1 1/8\"high including the integral loop x 1 1/8\" wide.(size is approx.)
It weighs 2.1 grams. (weight is approx.)
This symbol, commonly seen on necklaces and other jewelry and ornaments, is simply the Hebrew word Chai (living), with the two Hebrew letters Cheit and Yod attached to each other. Some say it refers to the Living; others say it simply reflects Judaism\'s focus on the importance of life. Whatever the reason, the concept of chai is important in Jewish culture. The typical Jewish toast is l\'chayim (to life). Gifts to charity are routinely given in multiples of 18 (the numeric value of the word Chai).
