Here for your consideration is an exquisite, vintage, sterling silver and gilt goblet, number 133 of a limited edition of 600, made to commemorate the 600th Anniversary of King Edward III decreeing Bristol the right to call itself a county, completewith red leather, silk and velvet case and designed by top silversmith Stuart Devlin.

This magnificent silver/gilt goblet has a tapered cylindrical body with gilt interior, above a decorative five gilt coin textured pedestal, each coin with a different historical depiction, to a circular domed foot. The underside of the goblet is inscribed \"The Bristol \'600\' goblet no 133 of a limited edition of 600\".Inside the lid of the case in gilt script are the words \'Designed and made by Stuart Devlin London for the Heritage collection\'.

Atruly stunning piece of workmanship fully hallmarked SD for Stuart Devlin with the lion passant, London leopards head assay stamp, and date letter \'S\' for 1973.
It\'s in fantasticoriginal condition with no splits, damage or dents. The silver/gilt goblet does have some beautiful age related patina, commensuratewith 44 years of age, but nothing unusual. The red leather, silk, and velvet presentation case is also in lovely clean condition.
This is as good as it gets with regards to Stuart Devlin limited edition commemorative goblets.How manyof these have you seen. I\'ve only got one, once it\'s gone .... it\'s gone. Stuart Devlin ...

A significant contemporary silversmith.Born inGeelong, Australia, hebecome an art teacher, specialising in gold and silversmithing. In 1957 he obtained a post at theRoyal Melbourne Institute of Technologyand studied for a Diploma of Art in gold and silversmithing. He was awarded scholarships to study at theRoyal College of Artin London in 1958, and spent two years doing a fellowship atColumbia University, United States.

He rose to fame when, in 1964, he won a competition to design the firstdecimal coinage for Australia.

In 1965, he opened a small workshop in London. This marked the beginning of Devlin\'s own style, which often took the form of limited editions, the most popular being Easter eggs and Christmas boxes, now collectors\' items. He adapted and devised new techniques to produce a wide variety of textures and filigree forms, and became well known in London\'sWest End, producing a new collection each year, from his prestigious showroom in Conduit Street (1979–1985).

Among his most popular commissions, Stuart Devlin has designed coins and medals for 36 countries throughout the world, including precious coins for theSydney 2000 Olympic Gamesand the medals for the founding awards of theAustralian honours systemin 1975, theOrder of Australia, the Australian Bravery Decorations and the National Medal.

In 1982, Stuart Devlin was granted theRoyal Warrantof Appointment as Goldsmith and Jeweller toHer Majesty the Queen.

Having now closed his London workshop. Stuart Devlinis today regarded as one of the most influential silversmiths of the 20th Century and his work is now highly collected, valued and admired the world over.Whoever purchases this truly beautiful goblet will not be disappointed because the workmanship is just outstanding.
