We are continuing to sell a collection of beautiful pipes that all came from the estate of a gentleman who recently passed away. Below is a short bio written by his daughter.In this sale is a pipe that is signed: il Ceppo Hand made Italy 1Overall in very good condition but needing cleaning and stem restoration.
Other pipes from the estate are being listed.The man who collected these estate and specialty pipes did so over his 87 year life, and with great passion and intrigue. He was loyal to his Tobacconist in Cincinnati,Ohio (Carrousel Tobacco Shoppe on Reading road ) during this time and preferred a burleigh mix.
Though he lived in Oxford, Ohio and taught at the university there, he traveled the world with his wife, mostly in Europe and a stop at a smoke or pipe shop was always on his agenda: he bought pipes and smoked while she shopped.
He smoked until the day he died and swore that it kept him regular.
I think that he embodied the image of an educated man, a gentle man in tweeds and khakis, sitting with his many male friends and having Socratic conversations over a burning bowl of aromatic leaves.
