Original Vintage US Model 1902 Army Officer’s Sword, EarlyJacob Reed with a Horn Grip

This US Model 1902 Army Officer’s Sword was sold by JacobReed and Sons of Philadelphia. Theinitials “CE” are stamped in the blade under the grip. I have read that the “CE” is the maker’sinitials and means that this sword was made by Carl Eickhorn in Solingen,Germany. The grip is made of horn so Ibelieve that this sword is very early, possibly before the 1st WorldWar.

The blade is 32” long with a 21.5” fuller. The blade has bright polish with excellentetchings. Each side of the blade has a21” panel etched with the same floral, vines, Flags, and crossed cannonmotif. The obverse side of the blade hasthe American Eagle and a shield etched in the center panel. The reverse side of the blade has U. S.etched in the center panel.

Jacob Reed & Sons Philadelphia is etched on the reverseside ricasso near the hilt. The leatherwasher on the blade is in excellent condition.The nickel-plated iron hilt and horn grip are in excellentcondition. The scabbard retains all ofits original plating and has four dents on one side and two dents on the otherside. The dents do not affect insertingthe sword.

This is a beautiful US Model 1902 Army Officer’s Sword thatis in excellent condition with only small nicks along the bottom of the blade. I have done my bestto photograph this sword showing as much detail as possible. But I am not a professional photographer, nora sword expert.
