ORIGIN AND IDEAS:I\'m told it\'s from the 1940s or 50s, though some say it\'s older than that, so I can\'t say for sure. Certainly timeless. Apparently it was made by WD Byron & Sons of Williamsport, MD for Upjohn (pharmaceutical co) and given to graduating doctors. How cool would it be to give a doctor as a graduation gift today?! Filled with cool medical stuff? Or silly stuff pouring out of it for a laugh after all the years of residency? Bottle of scotch? Or all natural medical stuff (homeopathic remedies, vitamins, essential oils...) for your alternative doctor or the healer friend? Endless ideas and a great price for this good lookin\' chunk of history.
CONDITION:I consider this the most beautiful stage in the life of leather -- \"perfectly worn\" -- where the area of deep wear (at strap/latch, see pics) has its own weathered beauty, and then most of the rest of it is deep, rich, aged mahogany leather which will only glow more luminous with some leather treatment. This bag must have been opened and closed at all those house calls of yesteryear! The brass latch still works, though I wouldn\'t use it daily -- it certainly looks fine just draped over the top and that\'s how I stored it.Interior is in fine vintage shape; full length slip pocket is functional.
