Circa 1966*

\"Steel Pot\" Helmet, With Liner,

Headband, and Mitchell Cover.

*I spent about 4-5 hours researching this helmet. Some Say It is Nearly Impossible to Put an Exact Date on a Vietnam Era M1, Because There Were So Many Variations...The followingis what I came up with. It is what it is, please verify or do your own research before buying. If You Need Any Further Info, Measurements, Photos, etc. Feel Free To Ask.

(If you have any further info or corrections, let me know.)

The Liner is Marked with Contract No. 8027, Making it a Mitchell Pattern Camo Cover Dating Late 1964 to Early 1965.

The Number on the Liner Strapis notDecipherable but the Number on the Headband is DSA-100-4750? (Not Sure About the 4750, it is Blurred)...Contract numbers with DSA-100, with No Date SuffixareFrom 1966. 1965 Items Would be Marked DSA-1. And Items After 1967 Would be Marked DSA-100 Followed by a 2 Digit Year Suffix Number (DSA-100-67...forExample(1967)

The Bottom of the Liner is Embossed \"US 24\"

The Steel Helmet Has the Seam of the Brim on the Back, and Swivel Bales for the Strap, Making itLate WWII and Up. It Has The Ball & Hook Type Chinstrap Fastener/Buckle, Which is VN Era But, From What I Have Read, The Hardware Should be Marked With An Anchor or the Letter \"P\". This One Has No Markings, Which Could Mean a Date As Late as 1968...It is Steel, And Was Painted O.D. Green. I Could Not Find a Heat Stamp Number on the Steel Pot. As I Searched for it, I Found a Very Faint \"A\". So in an effort to authenticate this helmet, I removed some of the paint from the inside of the helmet to reveal the heat stamp manufacturers lot number...which is M 127A (McCord Radiator and Manufacturing Co.)

PLEASE NOTE THE REMOVED PAINT IN THE PHOTOS ABOVE
