Wear is seen to gold Ormolu over silver metal. please see photos.Many of the pieces from this era were Ormolu over Sterling Silver.However, there were no markings on the silver during this era.Though it is difficult to precisely date the piece in this listing, it favors a type of Victorian snuff, jewelry, trinket box that dates to the 19th century. Do not know where it was made but it has a Hallmark of \"Y\" on the bottom. It came from an estate saleVigée LeBrun was a supremely talented professional artist by her early teens, LeBrun became a member of the Académie de Saint-Luc when she was 19 years old, an exceptionally rare opportunity for any woman in 18th century France, much less one so young.
