Old West Germany Black Forest Cuckoo clock see pictured back for etched info. This clock was carved depicting a old mountain Chalet complete with a sharply pitched roof. The clock is very impressive in size with a overall height of 18\" from top of bird\'s wing to bottom of the pendulum and a width of 8 1/4\" at the widest point. Their is a Beautifully Hand Carved Forest Bird at the very top. Her wings spread wide and perched on a carved extended tree limb . Please note that her glass inlaid eye is missing and a small tip of one of her wings is chipped off. Accented on both sides of the bird are dimensionally carved Maple leaves and tree branches. The center of the clock is framed with more of these nicely carved leaves and branches. On both sides of the lower front are two carved Squirrels eating Nuts. The face of the clock was carved from wood and numbered in Roman numerals The hands are very decorative . The upper peak of the front has two little hinged wooden doors. Behind one is a little man sitting and the other side is a little bird. The movement is of the finest German quality. Made by the noted German clock company \"Regula\" from solid Brass and powered by two metal Pine cone designed weights that hang on brass chains. The movement is regulated by a carved wooden Leaf pendulum that swings back and forth beneath the clock. UNFORTUNATELY IT DOES NOT COMPLETELY WORK. If you hand spin the dials the bird comes out and curls but the man does not appear or seam to sound on that side. I took it to a clock company and she said she could clean it and \"probably\" get it to work and the wood itself needs to be oiled to bring back the original luster....I just don\'t have the time. If you have been looking for a unique and lovely old Black Forest Cuckoo clock , then this is a great one.
