I\'ve had this lovely vintage music box since the late 70\'s. It is a unique work of art, hand crafted from wood and hand painted. The women tend the garden/flowers. There is a missing flower and I don\'t know what happened to the bird that used to be by the rake (I did have it but can\'t remember what I did with it) but all the other birds on the pole are there although one has both wings clipped and one has one clipped wing. Therefore, it is being sold \'as is.\' It stands approx. 8\" tall and 5\" wide and the pole is removable.
This beautifully detailed music box was made in the Erzgebirge region in the former East German Democratic Republic. When the music plays, the inner pole and the white birds rotate above the women\'s heads. The tone is rich and clear; however, I can\'t for the life of me remember the name of the tune it plays. It has a key wind on the side with a brass knob that pulls in and out to start/stop the music. I was saving it for a grand daughter, but I guess that wasn\'t in the stars.
It still has the original label and is from a smoke and pet free home. Thanks for checking out my listing.
