This is a nice Vintage Classic Cupboard Josef Originals Yellow Canary Pie Bird from around the 1950s-1970s:
Back in the day pie birds were one of those things almost every good cook had in their kitchen. They were used for making pies, they worked by placing the pie bird in the center tucked half in the crust and while the pie was baking the extra steam would vent out through the bird\'s beak preventing the pie filling from getting too hot and boiling to avoid making a mess by running over.
This nice yellow pie bird is around 3 inches high by 1 1/4 inches wide and 2 inches thick to its tail. It has a wide open pinkish/purple beak. It has the original sticker\'s that came on these birds that says \"Josef Originals\" and \"Classic Cupboard Calabash\". The stickers still look nice so I\'m assuming if it was used it was very little. A nice piece to add to your collection.
