VINTAGE ZUNI PUEBLO INDIAN SUNFACE BOLO TIE - SILVER MOSAIC INLAY - E. EDAAKIE:
$99.00

Item Description:

This vintage Zuni bolo tie has been beautifully crafted by Evangelita Edaakie. Evangleita is a listed Zuni artist who comes from a family of well known silversmiths. This Sunface Bolo has mosaic inlay with six rays of turquoise and onyx above and below. The SunFace is very well done with mother of pearl shell, turquoise and coral. The bolo measures 1 1/4\" tall. The bolo tie weighs .81 of an ounce or 23 grams. The black braided leather tie shows no signs of wear, but one of the silver tips is shorter. Otherwise, this vintage Zuni bolo tie is in great condition. For the Zuni the Sunface represents the sun, the giver of life and prosperity. So, much of Zuni jewelry shows the Sunface which requires a high level of skill to create. The center of the Sunface represents the face of the Sun. The forehead is usually split into two sections which symbolize the coming and going of the sun; sunrise and sunset or the day and night. The eyes are most typically represented as long rectangular shapes almost always crafted in black (either jet or onyx) which the Zuni do not add detail to out of respect.
