A vintage wooden carving of a blackbuck (Indian antelope).
It is in the style of a hunting trophy - a head displayed on a plaque.But it is freestanding - designed to be placed on a shelf or mantelpiece, rather than hung on a wall.
It is just over 10 inches tall in total, and made of a heavy sort of wood - it weighs about 620g.
This is a good-looking, solid, piece, although it has sustained some damage over the years.
ConditionThis is a vintage wooden carving, and it is no longer in perfect condition.It is still very striking, and lifelike, but it definitely looks its age.There are some splits in the wood, as you can see.Some of these appear to be natural, but others look like old damage which has been repaired.The tip of one horn has clearly broken off some years ago - this will not show so much if you stain it darker.Please see photographs.
