Fabric: linen of lighter weight or weave, possibly “linen union” (linen-cotton blend).

Size: 24 x 25 inches (approximate measures. this set has slight variation in selvedge length, from 23 1/2 - 24 1/2”; please see photos)

Color: white. Photos show napkins against white tablecloth.

Design: full field of ivy, with larger leaves on the outer edges to frame the central smaller leaves. Very pleasing and unusual design, possibly speaking to its age.

Finishingand special makers marks : small, nicely done, hand hemming on two edges. selvedges on two edges.

Age:We are uncertain of the age of these napkins, so this listing is in both pre- and post-1930s linen napkin categories. The fabric, hand hemming and design suggest early 20th century.

Condition :vintage very good. There is one napkin with two faint smudges discovered in final inspection (see photo), and several napkins with small slubs (not pulls or damage, but irregularities in the fiber at manufacture - see photo.) There is measurable variation in the selvedge length, most likely because of the variation in hand hemming.
