This listing is for an excellent carved wooden Japanese figure of a Nio. A guard of Buddha who traditionally travelled with him and symbolise a just use of physical force to protect against evil. Figure is dressed in full battle dress and leaning on an axe.Hand carved from an exotic wood.Great carving with excellent detail. In excellent condition complete with no breaks. It does have a few signs of age related wear.Striking figure.Weighs 700 grams.Measures 31cm high x 19cm wide x 13cm deep.Thanks for looking.
