IMO - this box is pre-1990 - due to the image, paint features, and characteristics of the box.The miniature lacquer box painting is a high quality image of a fairy tale \"Princess\" with an apple in hand, while the \"Evil Queen\" looks on. There is also an image of the \"Prince\" on horseback looking from afar. The box\'s image and colors are very bright red, quite charming and very appealing. There are no visible or noticeable defects. This box is clean and has a great shine.The box is in an EXCELLENT to NM- condition with no noticeable defects and/or scratches. The pictures don\'t give it the justice it deserves and is quite a remarkable piece of miniature lacquer art and workmanship from the Palekh region. I could not translate the title of the box or the signature of the artist on the lid, but both are well placed, clear and can be read - and below the main artwork.SIZE = approx. 2-7/8\"W x 4.25\"L x 1-5/8\"H
