Vtg 1940s LUDENS Nickel Chocolate Marshmallow Easter Bunny Rabbit Candy shop Box:
$25.00

Vtg 1940s 1950s LUDEN’S NickelChocolate Marshmallow Easter Bunny Rabbit Candy Box Reading PA - store box – 24 candy rabbits for$1.10. (dime discount for the whole box)

This is a rather specialcardboard store box display right before Easter. William Henry Luden of the Menthol Cough Dropfame also made candy. He began hisbusiness in 1881. I guess it is a bitdangerous to sell chocolate in Pennsylvania with Hershey there. Hershey did buy out the candy company, andLuden’s Chocolate Bunny Rabbits are no longer.

Luden’s ChocolateMarshmallow Rabbits at 5 Cents A Piece. There were 24 chocolate candy rabbits in the store box and there is apen mark on that side of the box at the top giving a price of $1.10. So if you bought the entire 24 count box ofchocolate marshmallow Easter bunnies, you saved ten cents.

This box should either dateto the mid 1940’s or sometime in the 1950s.It is definitely before the 60’s.

The front and three sides ofthe box states:

LUDEN’S QUALITY CANDIESSince 1881

The fourth side specifiesthat this box holds the Chocolate Marshmallow Bunnies. It states:

LUDEN’S

5 CENTS CHOC. MARSHMALLOWRABBITS

T-80 24 Net. Count, Made by Luden’s, Inc. Reading, Penna.

Size: approx. 12 ¾ by 8 3/8 by 2 ½ inches

Condition: A fun vintage find, but it does show it issome 60 plus years – Whenever one could buy 24 chocolate marshmallow Easterbunny Rabbits for $1.10 a box – or 5 Cents a piece. Does have the originalprice of the entire box written on one side, 1.10. Also has the name and address of the previousowner written in small careful cursive on the top edge of one side. It evidently stored \"Easter Grass\" for many years. This is written on the front and it shows up in the photos, but is much less prominent in real life. Clean interior. Exterior does show wear to edges – some chipsand splits, etc. Also the T-80 Code stamped on the back.

It is light, but will haveto be packed carefully so that there is no damage in mailing. This will take a larger heavier box and theweight should be over 1 pound, but hopefully under 2. Can send parcel or Priority.

Please note: All items are vintage to antique, not new. Items have been stored in a smoking household with a pet. If you are sensitive, you may want to buy from another. We do want happy customers. Thank you.
