Description

This little bunny DID NOT come with an umbrella originally! However, the Rosen company sold similar bunny sucker holders, usually on a cart with a rooster pulling it, WITH a plastic umbrella / parasol, that often goes missing. I looked for years for some plastic umbrellas that matched those original ones, and finally found some! So, since they look so cute with the sucker holders, I have added one to this piece. The candy container is vintage and original, and was made by the E. Rosen Candy Company, probably through one of their subsidiaries, Tico or Rosbro in the 1950\'s. The umbrella is one that I have added, as it looks so cute with the candy container.

The Rosen Candy Company started in 1911 in Providence RI, and is still in business today. They made a whole line of adorable hard plastic (Styrene) candy containers and holiday novelties in the middle of the last century that have become highly prized by collectors. These vintage pieces have tons of charm, and are bright and colorful. This one is a bunny candy container with a hole in the front for a sucker. The E. Rosen Company used these novelties to help sell their candy at holidays. This one is a little pull toy, with it\'s original string. It is in great condition, and even still has it\'s price stamped on the bottom, which was 29 cents.

The umbrella / parasol isn\'t marked, but came from Hong Kong and dates to the 1960\'s. I have lots of the parasols for sale in another listing, if you want just the parasol. The bunny candy container has some rust on the wheel axle\'s, but it moves smoothly, and has no cracks or breaks. The paint is excellent, and it\'s in overall excellent condition. The candy container measures 4 1/2" tall. The parasol measures 3 1/4" across and has a removable stick that is 3 1/4" long. The umbrella is ALMOST identical to the original sold by the Rosen Company, including the lattice and scallops.
