Vtg 1972 Set Of 13, Federal Glass 8 Oz. Afc Football Teams Smoked Bar Glasses +2:
Up for offer is a vintage, 1972 set of 13 8-oz. smoked, bar glasses by the Federal Glass Company representing the AFC Football Teams, along with two extra glasses of a different tint.
In 1972, because there were 16 National Football Conference teams and 10 American Football Conference teams, three teams needed to transfer to balance the two new conferences at 13 teams each. The Baltimore Colts, Cleveland Browns, and the Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to join all ten AFC teams to form the American Football Conference (AFC).
The Federal Glass Company produced these 8-ounce, smoked, rounded bar glasses, which might be considered “On the Rocks”, “Tumblers”, or “Lowball” glasses; I’m not sure. They measure approximately three inches in diameter and the same in height. They are weighted at the bottom.
The teams represented on these glasses are listed below, in order of their Division standing that year:
East: Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Baltimore Colts, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots.
Central: Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Oilers.
West: Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers
The condition of these bar glasses must be considered as "Used" because they were previously owned but they are all in great shape with no nicks, chips or scratches. They will be shipped in their original box as they were in 1972; the postage has gone up considerably in the intervening, nearly 50 years!
Because of the pandemic, please allow a little extra time for delivery by the carrier. Thanks for looking.
