Vintage Antique Handmade Early 1900\'s Star of Texas Patchwork Quilt

Antique hand pieced Star of Texas quilt with early 1900s era fabrics, muslin back, thin cotton batting and hand stitched binding. This quilt was made by my mother\'s maternal grandmother, Emily Menn, who lived in Bushdale, Texas.

From Wikipedia: Bushdale, a former small German community, is now an abandoned ghost town in Milam County, Texas three miles north of Rockdale. The town never grew much during its \"primetime\", as Bushdale only contained a one-teacher school and a few businesses. The school was consolidated with Rockdale in 1949. Today, only the cemetery remains.

This quilt has seen lots of use through the years but is in surprisingly good shape. There are frayed edges, age spots, worn spots, some stitching come loose but only one small hole - please see the last 7 photos for close-ups. I\'ve shown the front and back of the hole in the last two photos. The quilt has NOT been laundered.  I\'m selling this quilt for my elderly mom, who is downsizing.  It may actually be pre-1900 as my mother was born in 1935 but my mother didn\'t know the exact date it was made by her grandmother.

Measures approximately 78\" x 80\".  I\'ve photographed it on top of a king size bed.
