The overall length of this very rare piece of history is approximately 30 inches. It is from Cuba, New York. We were told, but the 80+ year old granddaughters of the former owner that their grandfather was the streetlamp lighter of Cuba, New York. However, because of the interesting double pattern on both sides of six pointed/Jewish stars of David - we believe that this might have at one time been used in a synagogue.

Please note that the upper portion of these two metal tubes is held together by some old string. That was how we purchased it. Also, please note that we believe that one of the pieces do you curved one will contain a wig or some other device for lighting and the other piece was used to either raise or lower a wick or turn a gas valve on and off. We are by no means experts on antiques, but we do try to find out as much as possible. There are some burn marks on the handle. The metal rods are rusted in places. This item is being sold as is. It is a beautiful museum/collector\'s piece.
