Cordonato d\' Oro • 24k Gold in Red Glass

This stunning art glass dish was made by famed Murano glasshouse, Barovier & Toso using the Cordonato d\' Oro technique. Twelve-rib, red and clear glass withflecks of pure gold leaf, masterfully imbedded in the glass. It is a well-documented piece by B&T--they developed and exclusively produce (and protect) this technique. The dish measures about3½\" x3½\" square x1¾\" tall. There is ample use of 24k gold dust.Made circa 1950s, Murano, Italy. No nicks, chips or cracks. The bottom has mild shelf-wear, expected for an item of this age. Base is ground flat accentuating a very attractive pinwheel design. Bright red, this is truly a wonderful work of art that would be an outstanding addition to any art glass collection, or as a very thoughtful gift! May be used as a pin dish, ashtray, tricket bowl, or simply for a gorgeous cabinet display addition. we am happy to answer any questions you have. CONDITION: Collector grade! Excellent vintage condition (no label).
FULL CONDITION REPORT: No cracks, chips, nicks, scuffs, flea bites, flakes, hairlines, repairs or evidence of grinding can be seen or felt. No label. Any natural indentations, bubbles, tool marks and/or any other natural textural features are all original to this piece and normal for hand blown glass. Wear to base is consistent with age. Please review all high resolution photographs, at full size, in forming your own opinions.

Comment on authentication: At the time this was created, few Murano furnaces were engraving maker\'s marks on their works. Most glasshouses put paper/foil labels on theirs. These labels are sometimes remaining, but, too frequently were removed or worn off over the years. Fortunately, the individual designer\'s style in many cases was distinctive enough to allow comparison from one labeled piece to another that has lost a label. we believe that this is one of those pieces and can also be easily positively identified using online Murano resources.
