The McClellan Saddle was designed by George B McClellan, a career Army officer in the U.S. Army.  
This saddle was simple & inexpensive compared to existing saddles.  It was sturdy enough to give good support but light enough not to burden the horse.

The McClellan Saddle is widely used in the United States by the mounted police and by ceremonial mounted units in the US Army.
It continues to be made in the United States of America.


This McClellan Saddle:

This is a size 12 - McClellan Saddle and has the brass tag.
It is made out of dark brown leather with brass trimming.
All of the brass saddle trimming is there.

This has hooded stirrups that are marked US. Some of the wood on the stirrups have layered.

This has the cinch strap that is made out of braided wool strips.

This saddle is marked: 28CP in quite a few places.

I honestly don\'t know much about saddles.  There are leather straps with buckles that I took photos of, but do not know what or where on the horse they go. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS!
