This is a wonderful antique piece of I believe Persian KHATAM from the early 1900\'s . This box is completely hand inlayed with mosaic marquetry tiny pieces of camel bone , wood and gold gilt to form this wonderful intricate tiny pattern . This piece has the inlay all over the box , under the box and inside the lid and the bottom of the box and the rest is completely cover by camel bone .. Honestly a piece like this must take a extraordinary amount of time . The piece is completely smooth and the lid is perfectly fitted ... Ive had boxes of this style before but this one is exceptional.. The craftsmanship is terrific. This piece came from a estate sale here in Connecticut from a massive Victorian of a very prominent doctor and his family had live in the home for the last 90 years and lots of things in the house were from the same period . I found this piece in the attic. This box measures 6 1/2 by 4 1/4 inches and is about 2 inches tall . The piece has smooth curves with a slightly domed top and fluted sides and is in beautiful antique condition with minimal signs of wear consistent with age... I see no lose to the inlay work and a bit of wear to the top .. All is shown in the pictures and thanks for looking .
