FUR CLIP BROOCH PIN

DESCRIPTION:Extremely RARE BOOK PIECES. This listing is for the FOUR seen in the photos, not the book photo. These figurals are from a series of characters, some say designed by Joseph Wuyts who was the designer for Mazer (see last photo of patent drawing for Swami, said to be part of this character group). The book speaks of 5 known characters, and that it is unknown if there are any more than the 5. The three shown in Warman’s Costume Jewelry Figurals, Page 92 are:

Cyclops Insect King;

Casablancan Alien (Fur Clip with red top and Rhinestone hat shown here, Measures 2 3/8” x 1 1/4\"); and

Reptilian Lover with Diamond Ring (Fur Clip with red heart headdress and Diamond Ring in hand, Measures 2 3/4”x 7/8”)

Another one described in book but not shown is a Swami with Letter scaled creature holding a Star. This is said to be a Joseph Wyuts designed piece.

The 5th known piece is not described in the book, but it is the Alien holding Sword shown here. He measures 2 1/2” x 1 1/2”. The Casablancan Alien is a Fur Clip and the Alien with Sword is a Pin. Both marked “Des. Pat Pend.”

There is obviously at least a 6th Character, see the Bird Man with colorful enameled wings and rhinestone horns included in this group of 4 (Fur Clip, measures 2 3/4 x 1 5/8”)

Warman’s book states that the values described therein are from actual sales, ranging from $250 each to $750 each with a value of $2500 for the 5 piece set.

THIS IS A RARE CHANCE TO OWN 4 FROM THE 5 (at least 6 actually)!! WHAT A GREAT HUNT IT WOULD BE TO HUNT DOWN THE REMAINING PIECES! THAT IS MY INTENT IF THESE DO NOT SELL AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER, I THOUGHT PERHAPS SOMEONE OUT THERE HAS THE OTHER PIECES AND IS HUNTING AS I AM, SO I HAVE DECIDED TO FEATURE THEM NOW FOR A SHORT TIME. I HAD THEM LISTED ONCE BEFORE WHEN I ONLY HAD 2, BUT NOW I HAVE 4 WHICH IS A REAL TREAT!!

ARE THEY NOT FABULOUS IN THEIR OWN QUIRKY WAY?

They are made of pot metal with goldplating and enamel and embelished with rhinestones. They are quite heavy and from the late 30’s, early 40’s. The enamel is quite worn and the stones are darkening.
