Please continue to read below for a full description of the fantastic item up for sale today. *Final reduction price brought down to £50.00 start offer* You are viewing my listing for a truly exquisitely designed and created mid to late 1800\'s W.S.Hicks propelling pencil. I have been informed that the pencil could very well be made out of 9ct yellow gold. However i can not see any hallmarks upon the piece so i am selling the item as 9ct rolled gold. Lots of this type of W.S.Hicks pencil were indeed created out of solid 9ct gold and some were not stamped with any precious metal stamps. The beautifully formed body of the piece has been superbly engine turned with exquisite detailing and attention to finish. The pencil boasts a wonderful hand etched rose bud type finishing cap to the end of the piece (Please refer to images for a good visual). The pencil carries the W.S.Hicks makers stamp to the centre body cartouche. The pencil is in a very well preserved condition with a condition rating of 9/10. The one point has been scored down simply because the W.S.Hicks stamp is slightly worn. However, the stamp is still 100% visible (Please refer to images). A truly beautiful highly collectable propelling pencil that has a very smooth pull/push propelling action that feels superbly well balanced and comfortable within the hand. The pencil is extremely tactile and a pure dream to sculpt words and drawings with. The item would make for a wonderful unique Christmas gift to maybe present to a loved one who is studying to become an artist or architect. I can not praise this lovely item enough really! I acquired the item in London whilst helping complete a friends estate clearance.
