For sale is a much older, hand carved & painted wood, MoroccanJewish Mezuzah - attributed to an unknown Moroccan wood craftsman. This piece would have been placed in front of a home, and touched while giving a blessing before entering. You can see that this piece has a carved wood handle with a rich worn patina from use in the past. The carved/painted intersecting circles and flowers can be related toJudaism, while the piece overall relates to the Colonial architecture and floral imagery of 1930\'s Berber art, although this piece overall could be much older than the 1930\'s.
This piece measures 31.5\" tall, 5\" wide, and 3.5\" deep. There is an old dry leather piece on top to hang this piece. The paint and wood has natural patina showing its age with character. I did find this piece in a dusty basement, so a little extra minor cleaning in places may be needed. Very Very minor wear to the the wood may be found, but nothing at all that effects the integrity or cosmetic look of this piece.
