This is a good example of a Unit Marked M.17Austro-Hungarian\'Stahlhelm\' which is distinct from the more common German M.16 and identifiable by it\'s higher sited chinstrap lugs and D shaped strap attachments.
This Stahlhelm is in very nice original condition and may havebelonged to a soldier serving in theK.u.K. Kaiserschützen,the mountain troops of theFirst World War Austro-Hungarian Army.
Also for use during World War Two!
In this case, as is common in these helmets, there are none of the usual size markings.
We measured the outside circumference exactly where the three liner pins are. It measures about 26 1/2 inches around - and in terms of cm it measures about 67.
