A Tall WW1 trench art French shell fashioned and dated 1918.It has a Crown cut top section.
Below this it has been skilfully tapped back to leave 2 stems, one to the front and one to the rear, of Art Nouveau poppies and foilage .
The lower section has been fluted to the base where there is further engraving of leaves on branches around the full circumference.The base has the French 75mm cannon shell markings. and the date stamp of 18 H for manufacture in 1918.It stands 34cm tall and is 8.5cm across the base. The centre is hollow and will allow a poppy or dried flower arrangement.In great shape for an item 98 years of age and a striking and well designed piece of history.Thanks for considering.
