>>> I am always trying to offer the nicest vintage watches here on . Here is a piece of Americana. This is a Hamilton 4492B Military Issued Pocket Watch. Bought by the US Government during World War II and has all the military Ordnance on the case back cover. This is the AN 5740-1. These watches were made by Hamilton under a government supply contract DA-36-038-ORD-19532. They had a 22 Jewel stem wound and stem set movement that was adjusted to 6 positions and temperature. I believe this is a modified version of the Hamilton 992B. A serious high quality Hamilton movement. This is a 16 size open face pocket watch and has the serious black dial with a white 24 hour military hour markings. This particular watch is in great condition and is running. It has a serial # 4C113146 which dates the watch to 1944, the end of the war. Maybe that is why this one is still in great condition. Has a Star Watch Case Co. base metal case.Nice looking coin edge and great looking original bow. If you appreciate American history and American made quality you will appreciate this Hamilton 4992B pocket watch.
