A scarce find! First let me say I have never seen the cloth with writing on the scabbard EVER survive. The writing on it is still very legible and if anyone can translate it or need closer photos please let me know I would be interested to know what it says :)

Date of Manufacture: signed Kanenori and dated Sho-Wa Ju Hachi Nen Ju Ichi Gatsu, so November, 1943

This is from the second world war period, signed Kanenori and dated Sho-Wa Ju Hachi Nen Ju Ichi Gatsu, so November, 1943. I believe this is made by Kojima Kanenori, real name Kojima Taro, born in 1907. He worked in Seki province.There are a couple of smiths by this name in Slough\'s book of \'Modern Sword Smiths of 1868-1945\'. The stamp is the style of the signature signed by a specialist Imperial signature cutter. This is missing the locking mechanism for the sword but this is easily replacable.

Under the handle wrap is typical sting ray skin.

The blade is in phenomenal condition. There is one small ding seen in the photos, there areabout 2other much smaller marks on the blade edge but those are so small I couldnt even get them to show in the photos.
