Here you have a first for my listings and a must have for the British Army World War II Collector and early pre-Israel collector. Here you have a Cap Badge from the British Army\'s Jewish Brigade. The Silver Badge is in good plus condition. It is at least 71 years old.

The cap badge features a Star of David within a Wreath. At the top of the badge is The King\'s Crown. There are two sew on loops affixed to the back side. The insignia is bold and striking. It measures 1.625 by 2 inches. It retains its silver finish with some light tarnishing and darkening from the passage of time. The badge is non-magnetic.

The Jewish Infantry Brigade Group known simply as the Jewish Brigade was formed in late 1944 to fight the Germans in Italy. Roosevelt pushed Churchill to make the Brigade happen. There were 5,000 volunteers. The Brigade was composed of Jews from Yishuv in Mandatory Palestine. They were commanded by Jewish British Officers. They suffered approximately 283 killed and wounded with 20 receiving valor decorations.

After the War a number of the Brigade worked to assist Holocaust survivors to immigrate Mandatory Palestine. They also teamed with Holocaust survivors to form assassin teams to eliminate German SS and Army Officers tied to atrocities. They may have eliminated up to 1,500 war criminals.
