This Ike Jacket and group of photos belonged to Colonel Montgomery C. Jackson, Jr. He served as a Marine during WWI, was discharged, competed for admission to VMI and graduated in 1920 as an Army Officer. He served in various positions until he took over the 487th Port Battalion, attached to the 5th Engineer Special Brigade in WWII. This unit was part of the assault on Omaha Beach, D-Day, during which Col. Jacksonwas the commander.

He was awarded the Belgian Order of Leopold II, Knight Class, as well as the French Croix de Guerre among many other medals as reflected on his ribbon bar. The uniform has bullion Colonel rank, bullion overseas bars, wool ETO patch, and a beautiful custom ribbon bar. With the uniform came a number of photos and personal items belonging to him, to include a postcard from one of his subordinates commenting on his excellent leadership abilities.

Note: The jacket did not have the transportation branch insignia on it when I obtained it, so I added a period set. Everything else is original and untouched. Also, two of the small uniform photos are glossy prints, and not vintage.

No size is marked as it is custom made, but it measures 24 inches across the chest, armpit to armpit, and 24 inches from the shoulder seam to the cuff. It is a very large jacket.

Scarce group from a high ranking invasion officer.
