Original WWII M1 Ammunition Bag. This is the early pattern of ammunition carrying bag used by infantrymen and particularly by mortar and machine gun crews. It was intended to carry two .30 caliber ammunition boxes orfour to sixmortar rounds, depending upon caliber. By 1943, the early pattern bag was largely replaced by the smaller and more versatile M1 General Purpose or \"GP\" bag.
