ORIGINAL WWII USMC CAMO MAP CASE - NAMED W/ INVASION MAPS - CARRIED BY RUNNER ON OKINAWA. Bought fromlocal WWII veterans estate.I am relisting this as I obtained new info from the veterans family and a helpful expert / researcher. Veteran served with 4th Division, Baker Co, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines. Has his name stencilled over another Marinesname on back. He was wounded during mop-up activities on Roi-Namur in February, 1944. He spent the rest of the year in hospital before joining 2/5 as an MOS 645 (messenger). Fought on Okinawa. This map case and Okinawa invasion map were carried by him. The case is USMC marked, Boyt 43 dated. Uncleaned as found, some oxidation to metal fittings. Has map holder inside. Rare with original camo. The family has told me that they took the 3 maps out of the case but now they are included in the sale: One secret marked 1st Marine Division map, Hagushi Beach Area Okinawa Jima. Approx 20\" X 31.5\". Period field written lines and notations - excellent condition. 2 other maps used together -Iribarun Ryukyu Retto and Kin. Both marked secret. Approx 18\" X 22\" each. Period field written lines and notations. Super rare set!!!!! Note: I have his Kabar etc listed in another sale. Please see my other sales for more estate military items.
