I am selling 2Walt Disney Collectors Society figurines. They feature a scene from the movie Fantasia. Although they are 2 separate figurines I am selling them together as they are part of the same scene. One of them is the Hippo (Hyacinth Hippo) and the other is the alligator (Ben Ali Gator). They are both retired pieces from 1996, production for these figurines, ended in June of 1999. The hippo is in mint condition ****EXCEPT*** * in the bottom of the figurine, the paint seems to have peeled a bit, as you may see in the picture. In addition to that, the legs of the divan she is lying are made of bronze and one of them is kind of loose , not broken but a bit loose. The alligator is in perfect condition. Both have been kept in my china cabinet for the past 18 years. I don\'t have the original boxes but I do have the certificates of authenticity for both figurines in their original sealed envelopes which have never been opened. Both figurines bear the 1996 stamp in the bottom which is the sailor\'s hat.

The Classics Collection started in 1992 with three scenes,Bambi, Cinderella, and Fantasia\'s Sorcerer Apprentice. Many other series havesince been introduced. Some figurines are limited, and some have been retired.Some of these figurines have risen high on the secondary market. The figurinesare made of porcelain, and the process is similar to that use to make Hummelfigurines. Individual pieces are molded, put together, and fired in an oven.Then they are painted and fired again. Each figurine is marked on the bottom,signifying the year it was produced.

Each sculpture bears a back stamp with Walt Disney\'s signatureand an incised or decal production-year mark that symbolizes a milestone inDisney history. Sculptures may carry different production marks if seriesproduction continues over several years. Sculptures are released as a LimitedEdition or an Open Edition. A Limited Edition can be either a Time Limited(released for a specific time period/year) and/or Numbered. These have beenreleased through Special Events, Conventions (Disneyana and Walt Disney ArtClassics) and/or New Product Announcements. Open Editions are met withsubsequent \"retirement\". These retired sculptures can never bereproduced as the plaster molds are destroyed on the day of retirement. Onceretired, these figurines can only be found on the Secondary Market.
