Walter Lantz (1899 - 1994): The founder of Walter Lantz Productions, an animator, producer director, creator of Woody Woodpecker and former employee of Walt Disney Studios. He was working as a mechanic when a customer liked his drawings on the shop walls and financed his studies at the Art Students League. He began writing and directing cartoons at the age 18 so by the time he reached Hollywood in the Mid 1920\'s he was over qualified for most every job at Disney.
