ONE of the reasons it is collectible isbecause of the fact thatthe local postmaster applied postal markings considered appropriate for the letter\'s journey. In addition to being collectible because the addressee or the town from which it was sent, it is a collectable item ofpostal history because of the rates, markings and usage.
Beautifully-appearing cover with a \"WATKINS N.Y. NOV 14\" black circular datestamp with a matching arc \"PAID 3\" addressed to \"Gilbert S. Hilleman, Battle Creek, Michigan.\"
Apparently it arrived at Pontiac, Michigan and the postmaster there added a manuscript\"Missent&Forward\" and applied his black \"PONTIAC Mich.\" circular datestamp and sent it on its way.
Roughly opened on the reverse, strengthened internally and externally with peelable stamp hinges (overkill).
This item is from the collection of Calvet Hahn andis accompanied by his original album notes. Mr. Hahn\'s collection is very fresh to the market. Most of his items, including this one,have not been offered for sale for 35-50 years. Many of the items are \"listing\" and/or \"recording\" items according to his album notes.
