These did not sell the last time around so we give it one more try less 20%. Offered are five papers relating to an incident in our Quasi War with France.  This war was of short duration, 1798-1800, and much of it was fought in the West Indies where the French regularly seized American ships.  These five miscellaneous papers refer to the case of the Schooner \"Hannah\" which sailed from Washington, North Carolina, November 13, 1799 bound for Montserrat with Anselm Richards as Master.   The pieces measure from 9 x 14 1/2,  2 pieces 8 x 10,  and the last two pictured about 7 x 5.   SEE SCANS - we have scanned all of them.  Generally good condition though note that the Protest split at the horizontal fold and was decently repaired with archival tissue.   All are readable, particularly the Protest.  The scans give the full text but we quote  from the lengthy Protest made by Richards (the first two scans) at St. Pierre Martinique:-  \"…till the Seventeenth day of December at twelve O\'clock at Noon when in Latitude 14 Longitude 57 he fell in with a Schooner which gave chase to him, and although every endeavour was made use of by said appearer [Richards] and his Crew to to escape Schooner, she came up with him and fired several shots at the said Schooner Hannah when said appearer was obliged to strike, he having received a dangerous wound in his arm by musket Ball, the said Schooner proving to be a French Republican Privateer belonging to Guadeloupe called the Twins mounting twelve guns - that the Captain of said Privateer took away said appearer, Register together with other papers.  Said appearer was taken out of his vessel and carried on board the said privateer to have his wounds dressed.   That on his return to his said vessel he found that the Crew of the Privateer had taken out all the hogs and a quantity of corn that were on board and carried them on board the said privateer and having so done sent a Prize Master and seven men on board the said appearers vessel and proceeded with her to the Island of Guadeloupe.    That on the nineteenth day of December the said Schooner was recaptured by his Majesty\'s Ship of War Invincible and brought into the Port of St. Pierre in the Island of Martinico, that appearer arrived at this Island on the 21st day of December and on the same day noted this his solemn Protest against the before recited incidents and misfortunes and on the 14th day of February 1800 extended the same.   And thereupon I the said Notary at the Instance and request of the said appearer…Publicly and solemnly Protest against the incidents and misfortunes before recited against the French Republic, against the said French Republican Privateer, her Commander Officers and all with them for forcibly capturing, plundering and taking possession of the said Schooner Hannah….\"  And on for another seven or eight lines.  A nice little grouping.  Payment via Paypal though other forms of payment are usually accepted.
