Description:Antique scarce Whiting Division, NY, sterling silver .925, circa 1880 No. 755 Aesthetic figural dish bowl, with an elongated shell shape, applied terrapin turtle, crab, on three shell feet, that is NOT monogrammed. The dish measures approximately 6 3/8 inches by 3 5/8 inches wide, 1 1/16 inches tall, weighs approximately 3.845 ozt., & is marked with the Whiting hallmark, sterling, & 755. The bowl is in good antique estate condition as follows;NO DENTS OR REPAIRS. THERE IS SOME SCRATCHING, A FEW TINY DINGS & WEAR CONSISTENT WITH THE AGE OF THE PIECE & NORMAL USAGE. THE THREE SHELL FEET & HALLMARK ON THE BOTTOM HAVE CAUSED IMPRESSED AREAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOWL, SO THOSE ARE NOT DENTS. THERE ARE SOME TINY ENGRAVED L & U SHAPED MARKS UNDER MAIN HALLMARK WHICH COULD BE POSSIBLE HOLLOWARE MARKS.
