WILLIAM GALE JR. STERLING MUG; CLASSICAL MEDALLION; LISTED ONE YEAR 1843

We are pleased to offer this mid-19th century William Gale Jr. sterling medallion mug.

William joined his father\'s New York firm in 1843. This same year he entered a single mark of his own, which this mug bears.

He was listed by himself only this one year.

Cylindrical form with beaded rim and Greek Key along base.

Boldly cast classical medallion warrior profile both sides. Globe and petal cap handle. Never monogrammed.

William Gale sterling medallion mug is 4 1/4 inches and weighs 6 standard ounces.

Hallmarked as shown. The date of 1866 in diamond frame confusing. In that Gale Jr. only listed by himself one year 1843. (See Ensko).

In excellent condition. Rich lusterous silver patina throughout. Stands firm on table. Mild wear.
